Summary
Model - Wide and deep multi-oared boat. Planks sewn together. Caulked with straw. Paddle shaped oars with long looms (?) Indian. Numbered '21' on each side. This had also been associated with inventory number SNO.TR.189 where it was inventoried by a Mr Sheppard in the 1980/90s as follows - Model of a boat. Construction of planks roped together with the upper painted red and the lower black. With a partial deck and no superstructure. On the deck are a collection of masts including spear like pieces (probably oars). Very simple rowlocks. CPW Item 169 - Model of Masula boat of the Coromandel Coast (crew of 8-12). This is a surf boat. Conservator Commment 2008 - stitching damaged. India?
