Summary
Model of a yacht, mid 19th century. Open deck hatch. Lateen rigged. Contains three curled up sails stored in hull. Two wooden spars loose on deck. Working tiller and rudder. Painted green, red and white. Made by Augustine Earle Lloyd Bulwer, 1796 - 1855, (Charles Wade's great grandfather, married to Mary Blanche Bulwer) . In notebook no.2, page 19 (1340945.2) Charles Wade refers to: 'Admiral 53. Toy model of Italian Lateen sailed boat. Made by A. E. L. Bulwer c.1846. Hull painted Red white & green.' Includes sketch with dimensions. In his notebook Days Far Away CPW records the 'Ship Interests of my Grandfathers'. The third entry relates to Augustine Earle Lloyd Bulwer and this model is mentioned. 'No 53 Model of little Boat with Lateen Sail'.
