Summary
Magician's hat - Circular hat of a Siamese magician. Gold lacquer decorated with raised designs in gesso. Underside of black lacquer with magic squares and circles inscribed with symbols, squares and four circles with cyphers between each. Tall cone to the centre of the hat with exposed wooden tip. Wooden loops for a chin-strap.In notebook no.4, page 56 (1340945.4) Charles Wade refers to: 'Seraphim 266. Circular Hat of Siamese Magician gold lacquer on a plaited palm foundation, decorated with raised designs in gesso, under side of black lacquer, with magic squares & circles inscribed with symbols 4 Squares 4 Circles, with ciphyrs between each. ' Includes sketch with dimensions. 1342487 is a business card relating to this object.
