Summary
Household cavalry trumpet banner, 1803-1813; silver and gold thread on red silk back ground; framed and under glass. In centre, coat of arms with ‘Honi soit qui mal y pense' (order of the garter) flanked by the lion & unicorn, and beneath ‘Dieu et mon droit’. In notebook no.4, page 26 (1340945.4) Charles Wade refers to: 'Anns Room 81. Banner for State Trumpet embroidered with the Arms of George III, as in use from 1816. Hanover shield in pretence on a Red silk Damask. On old stair.' Includes sketch.
