Summary
Apothecary's/medicine scales in a made up box. Lined dark pink velvet. Swan neck iron beam, glass pans. Weights- set of scruple and dram all marked J.B.B. This pattern of lozenge weights was registered in 1850. C.Wade notes are inside. Weights: 1dram,2dram,½dram, 2 scruples, 1 scruple, ½ scruple. On reverse 'STANDARD J.B.B' and crown & lion motif. Small metal squares of metal marked "grain". Contains handwritten note from CPW on a scrap of paper. "Later Apothecary's scale judging by "lozenge" type weights as these became popular from mid 19th century. Also "GLASS SCALES AELB" (on a scrap of blue paper).

Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade.
