Summary
Compass in circular wooden case with glass top. Paper rose with illustrated sun's face in the centre, surrounded by two further bands. Full width needle. Maker 'D. Adams, London' printed around centre of sun. English, first quarter of the 19th century. In notebook no.2, page 13 (1340945.2) Charles Wade refers to: 'Admiral 35. Compass from the stand of a Globe'. Includes sketch with dimensions.
