Ship's compass made of brass, set in gimbals in a mahogany box. Maker - H.Hughes, 59 Fenchurch Street, London. around compass rose. No apparent needle, entire rose rotates to show direction. English, third quarter of 19th century. Glass base showing underside of rose with needle attached. In notebook no.2, page ? (1340945.2) Charles Wade refers to: 'Admiral 273. Ship's Compass by H.
