Summary
Theodolite, Altazimuth. Brass with inset compass and two spirit levels on base, and a level alongside sight tube. Maker, engraved on front of base plate - W. & S. Jones, Holborn, London. English, first quarter of the 19th century. In fitted mahogany case with eyepiece extension. In notebook no.2, page ? (1340945.2) Charles Wade refers to: 'Admiral 622. 'ALTAZIMUTH by W S Jones Holborn London with mahogany case a beautifully made instrument circa 1830'. Includes sketch with dimensions.
