Summary
Brass, pocket type, sextant. Inscribed 'Smith Royal Exchange London'. English, third quarter of the 19th century. The brass cover unscrews to form the base. Leather case and small magnifying glass missing November 2009. In notebook no.2, page ? (1340945.2) Charles Wade refers to: 'Admiral 166. Pocket Sextant. Smith. Royal Exchange Lond; all of Brass. the cover unscrews and forms a base. 2 1/2 inches diam. There is a magnifying glass to read the scale'. Includes sketch.
