Summary
Pocket terrestrial globe. Spherical pasteboard case, hinged, with fish skin covering and hook catch (one missing). Contains close-fitting terrestrial globe, metal pin through the poles. Fitting indents in case. Celestial sphere lining interior of case. Interior of case labelled 'Newton's New and Improved Pocket Celestial Globe'. Globe labelled 'Newton's New and improved Terrestrial Pocket Globe, 66 Chancery Lane, London'. English, after 1817, mentioned in text on globe. In notebook no.2, page 31 (1340945.2) Charles Wade refers to: 'Admiral 120 (ii). NEWTON’S new & improved pocket globe, as above. 3¼” dia.'
