Summary

Armillary Heliocentric sphere. Wood and paper construction on ebonised turned wooden base. The sun plus six rotable rings (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn). Earth and moon positioned in gap in third ring (Earth missing). Zodiac ring printed from engraved plates. . Printed information about the relevant planet on each ring., and general celestial information on the outermost, French, no makers name, early 19th century (1810-1820).

Provenance

Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade.
