Summary
Armillary sphere. metal sphere with extensive gilding with a gilded lion weather vane to the top. The whole sphere is mounted on a stone ball shaped finial, on a steeped, fluted octagonal column on a large square, stepped Cotswold stone base. Previously associated with number SNO.SC.5118. Charles Wade refers to this object in his notebook 'Haphazard Notes Volume 2' where he also includes a small sketch. 'SUNDIAL The sphere is an old Dutch one. The shaft was cut from an old stone gate ‘post’ found in the farm yard'. (page 113)
