Summary
Document holder - Persian lacquered court document cover consisting of two lacquered boards. Central medallion with black painted background showing flowers, bluebells, birds, butterflies, and spider within a web. Framed by feather like foliage and flowers, repeated on the second board. Overall colours of green, red, and yellow. Black leather, gold painted spine. Inside is painted black with central gold rosette. In notebook no.4, page 33 (1340945.4) Charles Wade refers to: 'Seraphim 41. Persian M.S. Covers painted with pattern of flowers outlined with gold, contains four miniatures, portraits with script in red and black, dated 1753'
