Summary
Painted wooden heraldic shield inscribed 'Nostell Priory, Yorks' in the top of the frame. Large gold cross quartering with four rampant gold lions on red ground. Black border. Alured Comyn, Prior of Nostell in 1524, whose sister married the father of Armigell Wade. 'Coat of arms - Nostell Priory, Yorkshire' (Book of Wade). The plan and list for the Hall of Heraldry (Sancta Maria Byre) in Haphazard Notes Volume 2 (page 107-8) indicates that this panel was displayed on the North Wall. Charles Wade refers to this item as '23. Nostell Priory. Yorks'.
