Summary
Carved heraldic shield surmounted by a gold painted carved crown. Shield shows Royal Arms of three gold lions passant and three fleur-de-lis in each quarter of one half. The other half shows nine Tudor roses in red and gold with other red, gold and black heraldic symbols. Carved initials 'H R' to either side of shield. Brown painted banner carved below shield with black lettering reads 'DIEU. ET. MON. DOIT. Ano.Dni.1543'. 'King Henry VIII impaling Katherine Parr. In 1543 Henry VIII married Katherine Parr. The King assigned the Manor of Snowshill to her as part of her Dowery. Henry VIII died in 1547' (M. Jessup). CPW Item number 12 (Dragon).
