Summary
Model - Carved plaster representation of the elevation of the Mihrab façade at the Partal Oratory in the Alhambra, Granada. Cast from a mould in plaster which has been gilded and painted Orange, blue and gold to the upper section, with, bottom part blue yellow and white geometric pattern. In bottom right hand side the inscription: 'Modelos de la Alhambra por Contrerus’. Velvet backing to the single, central doorway. In a thick, plain wooden frame. In notebook no.4, page 68 (1340945.4) Charles Wade refers to: 'Seraphim 376-7. The 'Alhambra' 2 detail models in plaster, one coloured.'
