Summary
Mans headdress from Bali. 'Djokjakarta waiang-orang' of possibly black buffalo hide parchment decorated with gold. Long curving scroll shape to the back with gold stylised wings attached, and pierced leather panels with beads and wire along the scroll shape. Multi coloured tassels attached to either side. Red interior. Paper label tied to left ear reads: 'No. UA282 g 5’. In notebook no.4, page 45 (1340945.4) Charles Wade refers to: 'Seraphim 138. Man's Headress of black & gold DJOKJAKARTA WAIANG ORANG' Includes sketch.
