Summary
Drum (bass), anonymous, English, early 19th century. Painted with the arms of George III on a bright yellow background with studded panel painted red. Bracing tightened with buff leather 'tugs'. Many supporting flags, animals, guns etc., to motto 'NEC TEMERE NEC TIMIDE'. The Royal Arms incorporating on an inescutcheon of pretence the Arms of Hanover although without bonnet or crown; [Scotland represented by a lion rampant sable rather than gules and without bordure].
