Summary
Serpent, anon, English, c.1830. Wood covered in black leather, bone rims to five of the six finger holes. Brass bell and mouthpiece tube mounts. Four brass keys (one missing). Wooden mouthpiece. In notebook no.4, page 6 (1340945.4) Charles Wade refers to: 'Music Room 46. Serpent Black Leather 3 Keys, late 18th Cent.' Bought from Oliver Smith and Co. 34 High Street Oxford 15th July 1933. Two old serpents £10.
