Summary
Bassoon, Preston, London, c.1820. Marked ‘PRESTON, LONDON’. Stained boxwood with brass mounts, and nine brass keys (one missing). Separates into four sections. In notebook no.4, page 9 (1340945.4) Charles Wade refers to: 'Music Room 89. 4 Bassoons of 18th Cent. one has a copper horn. Three bassoons recorded; one bought from Oliver Smith and Co. 34 High Street Oxford, 10th May 1934 One Antique Bassoon £3, one from Fenton and Sons, 11 New Oxford Street London, 19th February 1917 and a third bassoon from Hildersham Church Cambridgeshire 17s.6d. (M.Jessup)
