Summary
Inscription of lead letters cast from wooden patterns (1332649 in Workshop) made by Charles Paget Wade which runs around the cornice of the room. The letters are painted gold and the motto contains two elaborate but differing CPW monograms at beginning and end.. The motto reads 'A wise man is like a dial that being set right with the sun keepeth his true course in his compass. He measureth time and tempereth nature. He employeth reason and comandeth sense and envieth none'. This is quoted from the writings of Nicholas Breton, 1615.
