Summary
Brass sundial. Square baseplate with holes at corners for fixing. Gnomen angle of 17.5 degrees. Hours marked with Roman numerals; compass in the centre. The maker's name 'J Fowler, London' is engraved on the surface. English, early 19th century. . In notebook no.2, page 7 (1340945.2) Charles Wade refers to: 'Admiral 16. An old Sundial made for ?‘Maurion’ S.Kitts West Indies, hence the low angle of the gnomen.' Includes sketch with dimensions.
