Full description
A traditional hall porter’s chair, with buttoned dark green leather on the inside and on the front sections of the top. The back and rear section of the outside of the top are covered with leather cloth. This is probably original. However, the front sections of the arms and the outside sections towards the front are covered with a heavier, greener leather cloth. This is more recent, and has been added as part of an earlier restoration. The buttons, particularly in the upper parts, are made of tufted thread. In the lower sections, many of the buttons have been replaced with conventional upholstery buttons. Theo Sturge 2008.
Provenance
Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade.
