Summary
Pair of pattens, wood soles, leather straps and one with leather toe piece. No backs. Iron cicular supports under soles to raise wearer from ground. Similar but not the same as SNO.F.725. In notebook number 5 (SNO.MISC.959.5) Charles Wade mentions these pattens. 'Top Royal. 2. Pair of wooden pattens with iron supports + child's pair'. Wade also includes an accurate sketch of the pattens. (Page 4) In his notebook recalling his memories of Yoxford (SNO.MISC.955, page 32) CPW recalls ‘Mrs Clements, an old lady with ringlests, Sunday Bonnet Paisley Shawl and Pattens’. In addition to his description Wade has included a small watercolour sketch of the pattens that are of similar design to this pair.
