Summary
Pair of pattens. Wood soles, leather strap uppers and distanced beneath the soles, oval metal frame to keep the feet above wet or muddy ground. Probably part of CPW Item 460 - ' Two pairs of wooden pattens with iron rings.'. (From the desciption it seems more likely that these are pattens that would have been worn while working in a dairy, they kept the feet off the cold dairy floor. Pattens used for outdoor wear wouldn't have had the iron ring elevating the sole. K.Lynch)
Provenance
Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade.
