Summary
Warping mill having twelve radial arms at three levels, plain wooden frame with peg joints attached to turned central pillar. Made by 'Christopher Stokes of 16 Bacon Street, Bethnal Green' - engraved on cog wheel of ratchet mechanism which distributes the thread evenly. In notebook no.4, page 88 (1340945.4) Charles Wade refers to: 'Top Gallant 30.'An Old Warping Mill of mahogany, a ratchet wheel of heck block maker's name - Christopher Stokes, Bacon Street, Bethnal Green. The mill prepares the warp for loom.'
