Summary
A small gilt-tooled leather-encased table-top marquetry cabinet, South German, Augsburg, circa 1580. With an arrangement of seven drawers around a central deep drawer, all the drawer fronts depicting buildings in silhouette, the inside of the fall front depicting a group of musical instruments, various timbers including sycamore, beech and fruitwoods, with iron lock-plate and hinges.
Provenance
Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade.
