Summary
Wooden framed, painted and glazed, ceramic tile formerly 'in our nursery, 1888' (handwritten in pencil on reverse) depicting a milkmaid asleep on a stool in a field, while the cow wanders off, being approached from behind by a man in tattered clothes. . Tile held in frame with small nails. Frame has a metal hanging ring at top. In notebook no.5, page 56 (1340945.5) Charles Wade refers to: 'Seventh Heaven no.198 Painted Tile "The Man all Tattered and Torn" c.1886'.
