Summary
Pole weapon; Naginata, Japanese pole weapon. Long curved steel blade with red painted channel. Unsigned, probably 19th century. Small brass collar with groove in centre. Blade inserts into brass ferrule pierced with heart decoration. Long wooden shaft of oval section with black lacquer coating. The top third has gold lacquer trailing foliage pattern. Three further brass ferrules pierced with heart decoration. Gold painted cord textured wooden grip. End plain. Sticky label on blade: '31'.
