Summary
Pole weapon; Naginata, (Japanese pole weapon) blade signed Kunishige, 19th century. Detachable steel blade with two gullies. Brass fitting. Connects to long flatterned wooden pole covered with black lacquer. The top half also decorated with vines and Mons (crests) in gold lacquer. Three metal fittings with heart shaped pierced decoration which are inscribed with vine leaves. Two other plain metal guards. Gold painted grip caved to simulate cord. Heavy spade shaped spike to the lower end. Sticky label '32' to blade.

Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade.
