Summary
Sword; Katana, unsigned, shortened steel blade with copper spacers between blade and handle. Tsuba of Kan-iye style. The tsuba is bronze fairly plain (in poor condition) with birds at water. The handle is wooden covered with dark green textile under which sit two metal decorative pieces dating from the middle of the 19th century. A wooden scabbard with orangey red lacquer and gold vine and flower pattern. The scabbard has bronze decoration to tip with black lacquered loop for hanging. Lacquer flaking on scabbard. Previously displayed in Green Room - sticky label number 2.
