Summary
Japanese katana sword with unsigned shortened steel blade from the mid nineteenth century. Tsuba (sword hand guard) of Namban style which appears to be painted black and is pierced and decorated with a raised hexagonal band pattern and has two holes, one for the blade to run through Brass collar. Wooden handle has metal ferrule decorated with copper coloured leaf pattern and is covered with brown textile webbing. Black lacquered scabbard with strap loop.
