Charles Wade notebook number 390 The Green Room (1340945.3; SNO.MISC.959.3): 'Suit of Armour. Helmet of black iron plates. Medium wings & large lacquer neck guard. Mask. The whole suit is of dark brown lacquer. Body of horizontal plates with shaped edges. Braided cream & pale blue. The tassets are edged with bear’s fur. The peak of helmet is covered with stencilled leather. Lacquer spear with mother o’pearl shaft. Curved blade. fr.Towcester.'

Purchased from Percy C. Ashby, Towcester, Northamptonshire, 17th February 1940. £10 10s for 4 suits. Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade.
