Charles Paget Wade notebook number 389 (1340945.3 / SNO.MISC.959.3): 'Suit of Armour. Helmet with small 17th Cent. wings. With blazon of stippled texture (sketch of helmet) European lacquer. Of very dark brown. Has Influence a ‘comb’ neck guard. Deep & close braided blue. The body piece of horizontal plates with vertical ridges of the same matt lacquer, the top plates being gold. Braided with a dull green Tassets of black lacquer – shaped edges. ASANO (sketch of blazon here) Blazon. Mask & helmet. Sleeves on blue & gold brocade of chain & plate. Apron brocade & small lacquer plaques. Leg guards chain & plate. Sword. Black lacquer powdered gold sheath. fr. Cheltenham.'
