Summary
Samurai armour. A suit consisting of a Helmet (Kabuto) of Koshozan form with attached neckguard (Shikoro) in Sugake. A mask (Mempo) with attached throatguard (Yodarekake) in Kebiki, two shoulder guards (Stode), a pair of sleeves (Kote) a curiass (Do), thigh armour (Haidate) and shin guards (Suneate).

Charles Paget Wade notebook entry number 383 (1340945.3 / SNO.MISC.959.3): ,Suit of Armour. Iron Helmet of 60 plates. Small wings. Neck guard of lacquer plates. Body of plain black (sketch of roundel here) lacquer vertical plates. ‘Comb’ lacquer shoulder guards & Tassets. Braided dark blue. Sleeves of chain & roundels of pierced five petalled flowers. Apron the same. A Spear & short sword. The shaft of spear is mother o’pearl. fr. London.'

Purchased by Charles Paget Wade in London. Possibly 1 of 3 suits purchased for £20 from Liberty and Co., Regent Street, London on the 8th June 1942. Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade.
