Summary
Samurai armour. A suit of Tosei-Gusoko armour consisting of a Helmet (Kabuto) with a Hineno-Jikoro nekguard. A mask (Mempo) missing its nose, attached throatguard (Nodowa), two shoulder guards (Stode) braided in Kebiki. A pair of sleeves (Kote) a curiass (Do) in the Tate-Hagi style in leather, hinged in four places. a padded collar. Seven detachable tassets (Kusazuri) of five lames in two sections. high armour (Haidate) and shin guards (Suneate).

Charles Paget Wade notebook entry number 385 (1340945.3 / SNO.MISC.959.3): 'Suit of Armour Black lacquer Helmet of 18 pieces. Body piece of the same. Horizontal plates at top vertical below. Sleeves chain & plate & leg guards. Also apron piece. Small shoulder guards. Blue braiding. fr. London.'

Purchased by Charles Paget Wade on 8th June 1942 from Liberty and Co. Regent Street, London. Paid £20 for 3 suits. Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade.
