Summary
One crossbow, a steel bow with wooden stock covered with ivory richly engraved with figures, animals and scrolls. Inscribed on the ivory 'VW 1585'. Complete with craniquin. 'Handle of craniquin is not original nor is the cord, and nut, and cocking stock'. (A de la Mare, 1979). 'German hunting crossbow dated 1585' (M.Jessup). Ferrous metal.

Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade.
