The Reverend Oswald Reichel, pictured third from the right in the middle row, led a colourful and controversial life. Oswald purchased A la Ronde after the terms of the will of Mary Parminter had run its course and then carried out much change, including removing the orignal thatch, putting in a huge dark staircase, creating bedrooms and dressing rooms with the addition of dormer windows and knocking down walls to create an enlarged Drawing room. Reichel's undeniable stamp on the history of A La Ronde divides opinion, to me was somewhat of a loveable rogue; courageous, characteristic and fiercely intelligent.
