Summary
Chequer pattern stone floor of the Great Hall. The floor is in two parts, the larger lower area serving as the hall, with an upper raised dais at the eastern end across the full width of the hall and for about a fifth of the length. The raised dais presumably for ceremonial purposes. Stone is possibly Betherstone marble with Purbeck stone repairs.
