Summary
A marble epitaph plaque inscribed ‘TITINIA L […] L / PRIMA’ with intertwined laurel leaves above. Decorated as a tabula ansata, at left and right two sets of isosceles triangles point inwards with two curved lines projecting outwards from the point at which the triangles meet.The inscription may show a name (‘TITINIA’) and possibly a date ‘L […] L’. ‘)’, round right bracket (parenthesis), is situated between ‘L’ and ‘L’. Below ‘PRIMA’ (first or the first in the feminine) is inscribed. Alice Rylance-Watson September 2018
Full description
A rectangular marble plaque, which is a section from an epitaph with the inscription ' TITINIA L […] L / PRIMA’ in two registers (lines). A name ("TITINIA") and possibly a date ‘L […] L.’ PRIMA means ‘the first’ in the feminine form. Above the inscription is a laurel leaf decoration. The form is typical of a Roman tabula ansata (votive tablet) made to remember the dead.
