Summary
Oak rifle case covered in brown leather with brass corner pieces. Lid attached by three brass hinges. No catch but lock (no key), four leather tooled tabs to hold straps (missing). Handle in leather and brass with three screws. Interior red baize lined. A cream paper label on the inside with black printing and incorporating the Prince of Wales' feathers reads; BY SPECIAL APPOINTMENT to H.R.H. THE PRINCE OF WALES. On right hand side is printed; H.R.H. THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH. Also a label reading; Breech Loading Gun and Rifle Manufacturer, STEPHEN GRANT, 67 St. James's Street, London. Base interior divided into eight compartments. Wooden edged rectangular inserts on inside lid.
