Marble on a porphyry column and black marble plinth, Alice Anne Graham Montgomery, Duchess of Buckingham and Chandos (1847-1931) by Kathleen Trousdell Shaw (Edmonton, Middlese 1870 - 1958), 1897. A portrait bust of the second wife of Wilbraham Egerton. Alice was the widow of the third Duke of Buckingham and Chandos and chose to keep this title after her marriage to Wilbraham in 1894. She shared many of Wilbraham's interests in art, politics, agriculture and Church matters. She became especially distinguished as a hostess, entertaining lavishly with her husband at Tatton and at their town house in St. James's Square in London. ,
