Summary
Bronze, Amphitrite, after a model by Michel Anguier (1612/14-1686), French School, c. 1700. A patinated bronze figure of the nereid Amphitrite, goddess of the sea and consort of the god of the sea Neptune, standing in contrapposto, half-draped, holding a crayfish in the proper left hand and a corner or her drapery in the proper right; at her feet, a dolphin. Paired with NT 1297759, a patinated bronze figure of Mars discarding his armour, after Anguier.
