Summary
A Savage model rifle, made in 1903, rim fire, pump action three sights. With green canvas and leather case. American pump-action rifle (model 1903) circa 1910 made by Savage Arms Company. Barrel; octagonal steel barrel, rifled, the breech stamped MANUFACTURED BY THE SAVAGE ARMS Co., UTICA, NEW YORK, USA. Blade fore-sight and calibrated leaf rear sight. Interrupted screw thread extension to muzzle. Stock; walnut butt with chequered wrist. Gutta-percha butt-plate stamped with Indian motif trade mark and 'SAVAGE MODEL 1903, MANUFACTURED BY THE SAVAGE ARMS CO., UTICA, N.Y., USA.- MAKERS OF RIFLES AND AMMUNITION'. Receiver; steel receiver, engraved on both sides. Sliding safety catch on upper tang. Trigger guard with serial No 19.244 and incorporating a detachable magazine. Magazine marked .22 S.L. and 'L.R. SAVAGE ARMS COMPANY PAT - APRIL 1908'.
