Full description
Short percussion Blunderbuss, Turkish c1800, converted from flintlock. Round iron barrel with a flared muzzle, profusley damascened over its entire length, including the barrel tang, with silver in a foliate design. Converted to percussion by drum and nipple method. Retained to the stock by 1 barrel pin and a band of modern copper wire. Barrel length 25.3 cm. Diameter at muzzle 30.5 mm. Wooden full stock of musket form, the chequered wrist (worn), and the right side of the butt stamped LI 2704. Iron furniture comprising; butt plate with long upper tang decorated with silver damascene, trigger guard with chiselled decoration and 2 ramrod pipes. The ramrod missing. Percussion lock, crudely converted from flintlock, the plate of flat form with a stepped and bevelled tail. Crudely formed percussion hammer. Retained to the stock by 2 sidenails. Overall length: 51cm.
