A mahogany writing table, circa 1840, made by Gillows of Lancaster. Boxwood line inlay, red baized hinged top, two end drawers, on square tapering supports.

Marks and inscriptions

GILLOWS. LANCASTER (stamped on drawer edge. This stamp looks finer than the later ones on other Gillows furniture at Tatton)
