Print, coloured lithograph, The Cossack by Frederic Remington (Canton, USA 1861 – Ridgefield 1909). One of a series of twelve coloured lithographs, studies of mounted North American cowboys and Native Americans. The title of this print 'The Cossack' may refer to the Georgian horsemen who performed in William 'Buffalo Bill' Cody's Wild West shows billed as 'Russian Cossacks'. They toured with the show in North America and Europe and Remington produced illustrations for Cody.
