Summary
Watercolour on paper, Saint George and the Dragon (after Mantegna) by L. Desidery (Italian, 19th century), signed, lower left: L. Desidery.c. A copy after the original tempera painting on panel of 1467 which is now in the Galleria dell' Accademia, Venice. St George stands in full armour except for his head, which is bare, holding his broken lance in his right hand; the dragon lies dead behind him. In the background, beyond a river, is a fortified city on the summit of a steep hill. A swag of friut and flowers hangs above him.
