Summary
A mahogany and ebony-strung drum table or writing table, English, circa 1810, the top inset with a black tooled-leather surface above four frieze drawers and four dummy drawers, on turned column support and four downswept legs with brass caps and castors.
Provenance
Purchased by Leonard Cunliffe (1860-1937), Deputy Governor of the Bank of England and step-father to Ida Copeland, from Harrods London on 16 December 1913 for £14 - 10s. He took a lease on Trelissick in the same year and finally purchased Trelissick in 1918. Purchased from William Copeland via Bonhams at 'The Contents of Trelissick House including The Copeland China Collection' auction 23-24th July 2013. Feock, near Truro, Cornwall
