Summary
Stencil design on exposed plaster section. Simplified design based upon Dove and Rose textile, stencilled in dark turquoise coloured paint onto plaster surrounding window frame. The window was inserted into the South Wall of the Drawing Room in 1892. In the 1980s, a section of the Dove and Rose textile to the left of the window was removed for conservation leaving the original Horn Poppy wall paper (NT 1290644.2) and adjoining plasterwork, from the insertion of the later window, exposed. This stencilling is believed to have been applied to cover the exposed plaster with a pattern that broadly matched the missing textile. This stencil was revealed once more in March 2026 during conservation work to the Dove and Rose textile.
